Former House Speaker Andrew Romanoff is upset that President Barack Obama is visiting Colorado next week in support of his opponent, Senator Michael Bennet. KJCT writes that Romanoff thinks the President should have another event specifically for Romanoff supporters, saying his endorsement to Bennet is frustrating some Democrats. He says money raised should go towards the entire Democratic Party, not just Bennet.

City engineer accepts position with Colorado Division of Water Resources. City Engineer Jason Ullmann has announced that he will be leaving employment with the City of Montrose to accept a position with the Colorado Division of Water Resources as the assistant division engineer for the Gunnison River Basin. He will leave his post on February 26.
“It is disappointing to see Jason leave,” City Manager Mary Watt said. “He has done much to improve the city’s infrastructure and to make Montrose a better place to live and work. He leaves a big hole on the staff, but I am happy that he is advancing professionally. His new position is a wonderful opportunity for him, and he will continue to contribute to the vitality of the Montrose area.”
Jason was originally hired in early 2007 as the city’s construction manager and was promoted to the position of city engineer in early 2008. During his tenure with the city he coordinated several major projects, including construction of a new three million gallon water storage tank and expansion of the city’s wastewater treatment facility. In January he was honored as the city’s 2009 Employee of the Year.

A controversy over wearing Indian garb to a Colorado State University basketball game has top administrators meeting with students. The Denver Post says today’s meeting was called to talk about a Facebook page set up by a student. A sophomore basketball fan asked Colorado State fans to wear American Indian clothes for an upcoming game against the Wyoming Cowboys. The student, Ben Margolit, later apologized for suggesting a “Cowboys vs. Indians” theme at the game.
