The year of transition began Monday as the Montrose Association of Commerce and Tourism was officially created. The Daily Press writes that the new organization consolidates the Montrose Area Merchants Association, the Montrose Chamber of Commerce, and the Montrose Visitor and Convention Bureau. During tomorrow’s City Council Meeting, councilors are expected to vote on a contract with the newly formed organization, which will determine who taxes and fees will be allocated to. The new board already consists of eight members and city council will appoint a ninth member.

Delta recently learned they have been awarded $2.8 million dollars from the Department of Local Affairs to go towards the Alternate Truck Route through town. Mountain Valley News writes that the entire cost of the project is $27 million. Back in November, voters in Delta passed a bond initiative to fund the truck route and bypass. A goal for a final design on the project is slated for April. Learn more at deltatruckroute.com.

Montrose High School is sending 8, Olathe is sending 12, and Nucla is sending 5. 94 KIX and KUBC will be broadcasting matches for a handful of local teams from our entire listening area.
