Mail-in Ballot in Montrose County. During this morning’s Montrose County Commissioners meeting, it was unanimously approved to hold this year’s Primary Election through a mail-in ballot. The county spent over $65,000 during the 2008 election.

Over 300 people attended the spaghetti benefit event for an Arizona woman who died as a result of domestic violence in December. Angelita “Lita” Montano grew up in Montrose and leaves behind two young children. The 25-year-old was a 200 graduate of Montrose Passage Charter School. She moved to Arizona at the age of 20 to receive her Medical Assistant Certificate from the International Institute of the Americas. She was excited to be working in the medical field and wanted to continue her education to become and RN. Donations for Lita are still being accepted at NuVista Credit Union (#101099).

Classes are back in session at a suburban Denver school for the first time since a gunman wounded two students in the parking lot last week. KJCT says Deer Creek Middle School is about 3 miles from the site of the 1999 Columbine High School shootings. Thirty-2-year-old Bruco Strong Eagle Eastwood was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is being held under $1 million cash bail in the February 23rd shootings.

Delta City Council will publicly announce their selection for City Manager during tomorrow’s regular meeting. Six candidates were vying for the position made vacant a few months ago. Tomorrow’s meeting starts at 7 o’clock.
