The Forest Service will undertake several reconstruction and maintenance projects on the Hanging Lake Trail this summer beginning May 1 of this year. The San Miguel County Commissioners last week approved a settlement agreement that essentially ends a decade-long dispute over the upgrade of an aging power line. According to The Watch this settlement now clears the way for construction of new power line to begin as early as this June.   Tri-State is the region’s wholesale power supplier, and the San Miguel Power Association, is the local electric power distributor. In 1998 a proposed upgraded transmission line would provide  redundant power to the Telluride region, whose primary source of power is by way of  a 115kV line that runs from Hesperus over Ophir Pass. The two have now agreed to pass that proposal.

A former Mesa County Community Corrections case manager is facing felony charges for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a former client. The Daily Sentinel reports that Annette Louise Henson, who now lives in Aurora, is facing 2 charges of unlawful conduct in a penal institution but has been freed from Mesa County Jail on a $5 thousand personal recognizance bond.
