Fire fighters with the Lower Valley Fire Protection District say a Fruita home is a total loss after a fire ripped through it this afternoon. NBC 11 News says that the fire broke out just before 3 today in the 1200 block of Lonnie Way.  The Lower Valley Fire Protection District says it appears the blaze started on the home’s porch.  All the residents who were inside were able to get out without injury.  No word yet on what caused the fire….

Mountainfilm has narrowed down  its 2010 official film selections from 600 to about 75  a process that Festival Director David Holbrooke says was “a particular challenge this year because there were so many strong films.” The Daily Planet reports that Festival Director David Holbrooke says there’s an incredible array of topics on display this year.  Even though tough decisions have to be made to pick out what films make the festival cut Holbrooke is excited about the overall quality and diversity of this year’s crop…

CRIME STOPPERS is asking for your help solving a burglary at a local residence. Between January 2010 and April 14, 2010 unknown person(s) forcibly entered a local residence and took from it five firearms. The stolen firearms are described as one .270 Remington bolt action rifle with a Lyman Alaskan scope, one .44 Magnum lever action rifle with a carving of a bear climbing a tree on the stalk, one .32 cal lever action rifle, one 30-06 semi-automatic rifle, and one .35 cal Remington lever action rifle in a green canvass case.  If you have information about this crime or any other crime, contact CRIME STOPPERS at 641-8280.
