Memorial Day in Montrose:
–Disabled American Veterans’ Moore-Demoret Chapter 17 will hold its annual Memorial Day ceremony at Cedar Creek Cemetery on East Miami Road at 10:00am Monday. The guest speaker will be Jim Hougnon, US Army Colonel (retired) and current Public Works Director for the City of Montrose.
–Memorial Day flowers placed on graves at Cedar Cemetery will be removed by city staff beginning June 10th.  Anyone wishing to save flowers placed on the graves at this cemetery must pick them up before this date.

An Arvada man accused of dragging a horse behind a truck has been sentenced to five years of probation with intensive supervision. KJCT says John Wilmarth McCulley was ordered not to have any contact with animals, and he must serve a year in the county jail work release program. McCulley pleaded guilty in January to aggravated animal cruelty and possession of a weapon by a previous offender.
