A former Gunnison County jailer has struck a plea deal for the first in a string of alleged offenses. According to the Gunnison Country Times, Tawnya Sponable appeared in Montrose County Court August 4th and pleaded guilty to a single charge of official misconduct in exchange for a year of probation plus a $1,000 fine and court costs. Sponable is one of five who was caught up in a soap opera at the Gunnison County Jail last year. She married inmate Joseph Stromayer shortly thereafter. Of the five charged in the jail investigation, which involved sex and drugs, as well as perjury, only former jail Captain Michelle Zadra fought charges and was found guilty by a jury. She was sentenced to a month of jail.
