Fort Lewis College students and other stakeholders are invited to a student-led forum at the Fort Lewis College Native American Center on Thursday, October 7, 2010, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to discuss and make recommendations on the federal legislation pending in both the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate concerning Native American Tuition Waiver funding for out-of-state Native students at Fort Lewis College. The general public is encouraged to attend. This event is sponsored by the Associated Students of Fort Lewis College.

Secretary of State Bernie Buescher is facing a lawsuit claiming he violated state law by using state workers to coordinate his campaign for re-election. NBC 11 News states that Robert McGuire filed the complaint on behalf of Nickelette Bingham-Gullette, who was only identified as a Colorado resident. Buescher forwarded the complaint to Attorney General John Suthers who will investigate and determine whether he will represent Buescher or advise him to get another attorney…..

The U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services today awarded nearly $1 million to Colorado to help plan for the establishment of health insurance exchanges. This is a key part of the Affordable Care act and these exchanges are expected to put greater control and greater choice in the hands of individuals and small businesses. Gov. Ritter explains that the health insurance exchanges will allow consumers and small businesses alike to have the same purchasing power as big employers and get a fairer deal when it comes to health care.
