Last night at about 8pm Jason Young was involved in a one vehicle accident that occurred on Hwy 50 by Mennoken Hill. Mr. Young’s vehicle initially travelled off the right side of the road and struck a delineator post  then left the road and landed in the grassy median of Hwy 50.  Jason Young was cited by the State Patrol for careless driving, DUI, and no proof of insurance.  Bond was set at $750….

A woman died Tuesday in a rollover accident near the Colorado-Utah border. KJCT says that the accident took place earlier this morning when a Dodge Caravan rolled over in the east bound lane off  I-70 by mile marker 217, about 13 miles west of the Colorado-Utah state line.  The woman who was driving died on the scene.  Her daughter was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital with critical injuries.  The Utah Highway Patrol says both women were wearing their seat belts.  Troopers are looking into possible prescription drug impairment….

Police are still investigating a crash that sent two people to the hospital Monday night. According to NBC 11 News authorities are re-interviewing witnesses and trying to piece together what happened.  The crash took place at the intersection of 30 and D Roads when a Ford Taurus and Pontiac Vibe collided causing the Vibe to hit a power pole.  Both people in the Vibe were taken to the hospital and the passenger suffered serious, possibly life threatening injuries.  A passenger in the Taurus was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries…

The father of an American man who was allegedly killed by pirates on a lake by the Texas-Mexico border accused Mexican authorities of being corrupt and said today they’re not doing enough to find his son’s body. The Daily Sentinel explains that Dennis Hartley, of Milliken,Co., made his comments in response to statements made by Mexican Police who said they found no evidence that the attack last week happened as described by Hartley’s daughter-in-law, Tiffany Hartley.  She reported  men on three speedboats were chasing them and shot her husband…

This Thursday, Oct. 7th John Salazar will visit businesses on Main St. in Montrose with Bill Patterson. He will then attend a rally and dinner with Democrats at the Holiday Inn at 5:30pm.
