Nemnich Trial, day 3. Samples of blood recovered from at least 13 locations at Linda Benson’s Grand Junction apartment in 1975 were introduced to jurors this morning. According to the Daily Sentinel, Larry Hall, who was assigned to the Grand Junction Police Department’s crime lab from 1974 to 1978, testified to the collection process of evidence from the apartments where the mother and daughter were found in July 1975. Today is day three of Jerry Nemnich’s trial.

Fatal car/pedestrian accident victim identified. The Mesa County Coroner has identified the person who was stuck by a car on Horizon Dr. over the weekend. 61-year-old Richard Baird of Durango was crossing the road when he was struck last night. He died of multiple blunt force injuries.

Delta foot chase leads to arrest. On Saturday, October 16, 2010 at approximately 4:30 P.M. officers of the Delta Police Department responded to a residence for a disturbance in progress.  Daniel Anthony Duran, 27, of Delta was arrested and jailed. The investigation resulted in a foot pursuit that involved the Delta Police Department, the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, and the Colorado State Patrol.  The pursuit came to an end in the 1400 block of Highway 50 where Duran was in the roadway and blocking traffic.  Duran was taken into custody and charged with Third Degree Assault, First Degree Burglary, First Degree Criminal Trespass, Robbery, False Imprisonment, Violation of protection order X 7, Obstructing a Peace Officer, Menacing, Criminal Attempt (to commit) First Degree Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Violation of Bail Bond Condition, and Resisting Arrest.  Duran was also arrested and jailed on two warrants.  He is being held at the Delta County Jail on a $500,000 cash only bond.

Stolen motorcycles recovered. On Saturday, October 16, 2010 at approximately 6:38 P.M. officers of the Delta Police Department located and recovered two stolen motorcycles.  The two motorcycles had been reported stolen from a Delta residence on September 28, 2010.  Officer Everett Neil, while on routine patrol, did observe two motorcycles fitting the description of the stolen motorcycles.  Further investigation resulted in Brent Daniel West, 25, of Delta and Joseph Aven Widner, 19, of Delta being arrested and jailed for alleged Theft over $1000 (a class 4 felony).  Both men were transported to the Delta County Jail where they were later released on a $5,000 bond each.
