Gov-elect John Hickenlooper announced today that he has appointed Lt. Gov-elect Joe Garcia and entrepreneur John Huggins to lead Partners for Colorado, a transition team to the Governor’s office. Over the next few months this transition team will engage a diverse group of people to recruit and evaluate candidates to run each major department in state government.  This transition team will make an effort to make state government more efficient by reviewing current performance, challenges and opportunities in each department.

The decision to pass or oppose a property tax increase for DeBeque School District 49-JT residents has difference of just a few votes. The Daily Sentinel reports that according to the latest count in Mesa County 157 people favor the measure and 150 oppose.  With just about all voting polls accounted for to give you an idea of how close this count is the county has eight days to count all military mail-in ballots to see if the difference widens at all.

Although the medical marijuana bill failed at the polls yesterday advocates for medical marijuana are trying to get a ban in Grand Junction overturned. According to KJCT if proponents get enough signatures on their petition, the issue could be brought to a vote of the people…
