The Salvation Army is still picking up the pieces after their Thrift Store Warehouse collapsed Friday. KJCT reports that despite the setback, leaders say they will still be able to bring food and toys to local families this holiday season.  No one is sure what caused the roof to collapse last Friday but Capt. Dan Wilson is hoping to meet with building engineers and maybe get some answers.  The building was built in 1972. Over the years, the Mesa County Building Department never had complaints about the building’s structural integrity. They don’t usually do inspections unless concerns are raised. The Salvation Army is now waiting for the building to be inspected before they can make any decision about whether to rebuild or re-open.

On Saturday, December 4th the Montrose Association of Commerce & Tourism will be stationed at Santa’s Cabin in Centennial Plaza (Downtown Montrose) selling the Montrose community currency, Montrose Bucks. What makes this currency exchange unique is rather than offering a discount on Montrose Bucks, Montrose ACT is offering pricing that will infuse the local economy with more cash.  When you buy $25 in Montrose Bucks you get an extra $5, $50 will get you an extra $10 and so on.   Montrose Bucks are an incentive to shop local and are accepted like cash by most Montrose businesses. Montrose Bucks can be purchased by individuals, businesses and organizations for a variety of uses.
