More than a year ago, Norwood skate enthusiasts were treated to a new skate park, funded by Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) and the Just For Kids Foundation (JFK). The Norwood Post reports that a much-needed improvement to the park has just been funded by the same organizations and the Norwood Parks and Recreation District. The surface on the skate park mini ramp was made of Masonite, which, said Norwood Town Clerk Gretchen Wells, “has to be replaced twice a year, at a cost of $400 to $500 each time.”

Yesterday Western State announced its three finalists in the running for head football coach. They are Jeff Woodruff, Orv Otten and Jim Williams. Today Jeff Woodruff has announced that he has removed his name from consideration. So the interview scheduled on Mon. Dec. 20th with Woodruff has been cancelled. The other two candidates have interviews as scheduled next week.

Investigators say a Missouri pilot who died in a small-plane crash in Western Colorado had little experience flying over mountainous terrain. NBC 11 News has learned that 39 yr old William Michael Fritts died when is air craft crashed near Marble in June. Two passengers from Tucson were injured. One said that he had overshot the landing strip and was circling for another try when the plane struck some trees…

A plea deal could be in the works for a man accused of firing at police in Colorado. KJCT has learned that public defender Tina Fang told a judge yesterday they may be able to resolve the case against 36 yr old Daniel Renwick. He is charged with first-degree attempted murder and being a fugitive. He is accused of firing at officers during a chase Aug. 1 in western Colorado. Renwick is one of three convicts who escaped July 30 from a privately run prison in Kingman, Ariz. He was serving time for second-degree murder.
