It’s possible the police officer accused of brutally spanking his girlfriend will be on duty again someday. Currently, Michael Percival is on unpaid leave from the Olathe Police Department after tendering an Alford plea yesterday (An Alford Plea acknowledges there are facts that could result in a conviction; treated as a guilty plea). The Daily Press reports that allegations of domestic violence were dropped, and a protection order in his case was modified to allow him access to firearms. Percival was charged last year after his girlfriend confessed to lashings with a belt from him. The two allegedly agreed to a sadomasochistic relationship which indicated how the girlfriend is to dress, her hygiene habits, behavior, and sexual conduct. Percival will spend the next year on probation.
