An early morning earthquake rattled some small towns in the mountains of southern Utah but no damage was reported. The Daily Sentinel explains that according to The University of Utah Seismograph stations in Salt Lake City, the quake measured  at 4.5 on the richter scale at 5:06am this morning.  The epicenter of the shock was calculated to be in the Tushar Mountains, eight miles  northwest of Circleville…

As he prepares to head to Washington for the convening of the 112th Congress, Congressman-elect Scott Tipton announced the opening of his district offices in Colorado this week as well as new staff additions for those offices. Offices in Alamosa, Grand Junction and Pueblo will open on January 5th with the Cortez office to officially open next week.  Stressing the importance of having a staff with a service-oriented mentality, Tipton announced the addition of several new district staff members…

WSC announces new coach.Western State College has announced Jas Bains as their next head for the Mountaineer football program. Bains spent the past season as the defensive and special teams coordinator for the Mountaineers.  Last season Bains coached the top kick-blocking team in the RMAC and one of the top kick-blocking teams in Division II.   Western State also ranked second in the conference for punt return average. His defense ranked in the top half of the conference in interception return average and opponent fourth-down conversions.
