Paonia woman bled to death. The Delta County Coroner says that the Paonia woman going through a bitter divorce who was found dead on her property Friday bled to death from multiple stab wounds to the neck. Melinda Yager’s husband, Nathan, turned himself into the Montrose Police Department several hours after the fatal attack. Nathan faces 1st degree murder and domestic violence charges. The Daily Press reports that Melinda was granted a temporary restraining order from Nathan in August, and an order restraining her from him was currently in place. It’s reported that Nathan had several cuts on him consistent with fingernail scratches and also sustained a fracture to his left hand. The two were fighting over the home and custody of their child.

Missing man had drugs in system. Toxicology results show the Aspen man missing for weeks and later found dead had drugs in his system. News Channel 5 says the results released on Monday say that 28-year-old George Aldrich, Jr., had THC in his system. Aldrich also had a blood alcohol level of 0.22. His body was found 100 feet below a bridge, and his death has been ruled an accident.

Plane wreckage found. Authorities say at least one person was killed when a small plane crashed in the southern Colorado mountains. The wreckage was found on Monday, one day after the single-engine Piper Malibu disappeared over the Sangre de Cristo Range. Lt. Col. Mike Daniels of the Colorado Civil Air Patrol says two people were aboard and both were killed. Ed O’Brien, a Civil Air Patrol Captain in Custer County, where the plane was found, says searchers found one body but haven’t been able to check all the wreckage for a second victim. The plane was registered to a Waterloo, Iowa, address. The plane took off from an airport north of Phoenix on Sunday and was bound for Pueblo.

Candidates interested in being considered for appointment by the Governor to the position of District Attorney in the 7th Judicial District have until 5:00p Friday January 14, 2011 to submit a resume. The 7th Judicial District serves Delta, Gunnison, Hindsale, Montrose, Ouray, and San Miguel counties. District Attorney Myrl Serra resigned, effective Tuesday January 11th.
