On March 4, 2011, Colorado U.S. Senators Michael Bennet and Mark Udall reintroduced a bill that would help ensure that the Native American Tuition Waiver at Fort Lewis College would continue into the future. The waiver offers a tuition-free education at Fort Lewis and is available to any student from a federally-recognized tribe.  The Senate Bill would offer federal financial assistance to Colorado to help pay for the cost of the tuition waiver.  Fort Lewis does hold a distinction of awarding more bachelor’s degrees to Native American Students than any other four year institution in the country.
