MONTROSE – The Montrose Downtown Development Authority recently agreed to pay a fee of $6,000 for the city to shut down Main Street from Junction to Townsend avenues this year for the summer Main in Motion festivals. Last year, the city only charged $600 for the closure. Main in Motion Director Kendra Morrow tells The Watch that the city said they were losing money closing the street, therefore causing the increase in fees. This year’s Main in Motion will not only be bigger, as the street closure extended one more block, but each week is set to have a theme this year including a Pet Week sponsored by Murdoch’s. A main stage is going to host a weekly headliner in addition to the plethora of musicians on every block. To set up a (vendor) booth call Krista Montalvo at 708-9029 and to volunteer with Main in Motion, call Tammy Hernandez at 901-6817.
