MONTROSE  -  DMEA announced that as of “Earth Day,” April 22, 2011, its two 10,000 watt community solar arrays—one at the co-op’s Montrose headquarters, the other at its Read facility in Delta had been sold out.  Jim Heneghan, DMEA’s renewable energy engineer and Community Solar Array manager  says they’re encouraged by the enthusiastic response to DMEAs solar array program and feels that local power production can help recharge the economy.  At their April 26 meeting, DMEA’s board of directors voted to authorize funding for two additional 10,000 watt arrays, one at each DMEA location, which will double the co-op’s total installed solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity to 40 kilowatts (kW).
