TELLURIDE  -  Energy Fuels made a substantial commitment to regulators on Friday with a $1.3 million bond payment for the planned Piñon Ridge Mill.  The Daily Planet has learned that with that payment Energy Fuels hopes to get one step closer to starting up its highly contest uranium mill just outside of Paradox.  The bond is the first of four installments required by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.  Energy Fuels is required to pay a little over $11 million in bonds to the state to cover the mill’s decommissioning process.  The company’s next bond of roughly $2.9 million is due Sept. 7 of this year.   Telluride environmental group Sheep Mountain Alliance who has been fighting the mill feels that $12 million is not enough to cover the mill’s potential costs.
