PAONIA  -  The case against a Paonia man accused of murdering his estranged wife will go to trial.  NBC 11 News has learned that the judge presiding  in the case decided that Nathan Yager will not be able to use the insanity plea.   Yager is accused of slashing his wife Melinda’s neck, killing her last January. He faces second degree murder charges. When Yager was arrested in Montrose, law enforcement found blood on his pants. He also had scratches on his neck and chest and was treated at the hospital for a broken left hand.  The couple had been going through a bitter divorce and were fighting for custody of their daughter.
