More than 60 head of cattle in Mesa County have been seized by authorities and the owner may face criminal charges.  The Sheriff’s office were tipped off about the abuse from a concerned citizen.  When officials visited the property they found some horrific sites.  The police report goes into graphic detail as to what they found.  Cattle owner John Lawton said it was not animal abuse but was in the process of moving them onto a pasture on his neighbor’s property and was working with him on trading some of his cattle for more hay.  However, authorities claim this is not the first time they were called onto the premises.  The Sheriff’s office is continuing their investigating and are waiting for lab results to see how serious the abuse charges are.
