Extra Aircraft is still interested in having a U.S. headquarters here in Montrose. They had approached the city two years ago and have not been able to reach an agreement with city officials. Currently the German company is waiting to hear from the FAA to allow it to build its 6 seater Extra 500 aircraft, a model that was supposed to be in production in Montrose. County Commissioner Gary Ellis said as far as he knows the deal is still on the table and the city is still being considered for Extra’s headquarters. One of Extra’s officials echoed that sentiment and said Montrose has not been ruled out of their plans. Right now, though, Extra needs the go ahead from the FAA for production.
