There’s a growing effort here on the western slope to prevent the closure of many rural post offices. 71 post offices in this state alone are marked for closure. The Senate is currently deciding whether or not to give the Post Office a financial boost for a short term. Sen Mark Udall has joined other senators in backing an amendment to a bill reforming the U.S. Postal Service. As it stands now, the Postal Service agreed to delay those rural closing until May 15th to give time for Congress to come up with a solution.
