Police in La Plata County have arrested a third person in connection with the shooting death of 39 yr old Joey Benavidez of Ignacio on April 3^rd.  Sheriff’s office said they apprehended 19 yr old Shanice O. Smith of Farmington in that first degree murder.  Two others have already been taken into custody.  Although a gag order has been issued, authorities did earlier mention that Benavidez may have been shot over a drug deal that went bad.
