Both Pitkin County commissioners and conservation group agree that Gunnison Energy Corp. and SG Interests have been rigging auctions of gas leases on federal land. According to a federal prosecutor, both companies made an agreement not to compete with each other in the auctions. As a result of these findings both will now have to pay $275 thousand in settlement claims. However, in paying these claims the companies are not admitting guilt. The public now has 60 days to respond before a judge makes a ruling.
