With so many trees infested and destroyed by a mass beetle  infestation   the U.S. Forest Service says that many forests are prime real estate for wild fire outbreaks.  The Western Slope is no exception.  The number of dead trees has lead to an increased level of hazardous fuels .  The Forest Service is on high alert and ready to deploy helicopters and large air tankers to quickly combat any blaze that breaks out.   Between them and the BLM they have 15 thousand trained firefighters  as well as crews from tribal and local governments ready to help out.  All agencies are prepared for any fire outbreak.
