Civil Unions Bill goes to Colorado House

The Colorado State Senate initially passed a bill this week that would give same sex couples the right to civil unions. The informal vote will be recorded soon and if passed, it will move onto the house judiciary committee where it needs one vote to pass. A similar bill last year failed on a party line vote. The bill passed initially in the senate with bipartisan support and it is rumored that there are several house republicans that are in support of civil unions. A recent poll showed that 62 percent of Coloradoans are in favor of civil unions, and 53 percent are in favor of Same Sex Marriages.
