UPDATE;  After 18 years in prison Robert Dewey is expected to be released sometime this afternoon.  Dewey had been accused of a 1994 rape and murder of a Palisade woman, a crime he insisted he did not commit.  As it turned out he was probably right.  New DNA evidence was revealed exonerating Dewey and during a hearing this afternoon a judge is expected to let Dewey walk free for the first time in nearly 20 years.  At a press conference this morning the Mesa County District Attorney’s office did offer an official apology to Dewey.
