The Montrose County Commissioners heard from the Montrose Economic Development Corporation yesterday about the possible closure of a large business in Montrose. Ross Reels, a subsidiary of 3M which manufactures in Montrose is looking to MEDC to help with a reorganization of their business. Sandy Head, Executive Director for MEDC explains the proposed performance contract that could be offered to the business.
The company is looking to move their operation to a smaller building to keep costs down, but moving all their machinery is really expensive. A move estimate for the machinery is between thirty five and fifty five thousand dollars. The county is not allowed to give money to the business directly but they are considering some tax breaks and other assistance. The Montrose City Council is meeting tonight to discuss the possibility of a loan through MEDC, and that meeting will take place at seven at the Montrose City Council Chambers on south first and cascade.
