Counterfeit Temporary Auto Tags An Issue In Colorado

Counterfeit auto license plates appears to be an issue in Colorado so authorities are looking for ways to come up temporary plates that are harder to duplicate.  The way it stands right now most auto dealers issue temporary tags when they sell a new vehicle and the tags do not expire for several months until the buyers get their permanent tags.  Some state troopers, however, have seen a rash of counterfeit temporary tags.  Under Colorado law, a late fee can be assessed for expired temporary permits, so some have decided to make their own tags to try to avoid those late fees.
