The owners of Ouray’s Box Canyon Lodge and Hot Springs have announced they have taken over ownership of Exotic Earth Coffee Roasters in Ouray.  Karen and Rich Avery have gotten together with Ridgway resident, Danny Wesseling, on this venture.  Exotic Earth features mostly organic, shade-grown, fair trade beans from exotic equatorial locations around the world which are then shipped here and roasted in small batches in a building located between Ridgway and Ouray.  The coffee is sold in 12- or 16-ounce bags (for $11-$14 per bag) at retail shops and specialty stores in Ouray, and wholesale to hotels and restaurants in town. The trio hopes to expand wholesale distribution throughout Southwest Colorado in the near future.
