The Montrose City Council met last night with a pretty full schedule. The biggest item on the agenda however was the discussion and vote on a Business Retention project to help out 3M subsidiary Ross Reels. The plan is to use money from the Montrose Tourism and Promotion fund to run a joint marketing and cross promotion plan. The plan would increase exposure of the community through advertising in other regional markets. In return, Ross Reels would retain at least twenty employees for the term of the contract. The city council approved the decision with a contract for two years at twenty thousand dollars a year with annual performance review and an option to extend the contract if necessary. Another big item on the agenda was the discussion of the town participation contract for the US Pro Cycling Challenge in August. That matter was tabled until the next meeting.
