Senior Property Tax Exemption To Be Reinstated

In accordance with a house bill that was signed into law earlier this month the senior property tax exemption has been reinstated for tax year 2012. A property tax exemption is available to senior citizens, surviving spouses of previously qualified senior citizens and disabled vets. The exemption is available to applicants who meet 3 basic requirements: You must be at least 65 years old as of the 1st of the year, Have owned your home for at least 10 years as of Jan 1st 2012, and occupied that home as a primary residence for at least 10 years as of Jan 1st, 2012.
