Governor John Hickenlooper signed a bill in Grand Junction yesterday which will allow Colorado Mesa University to raise their admission standards. CMU graduated their first class under that name this year after changing their name from Mesa State College last summer. The new admissions standards will be comparable to those of CU Boulder and CSU. Governor Hickenlooper signed two other bills while he was in Grand Junction, one of which provides a tax exemption for consumers of products made from wood destroyed by pine beetles sponsored by Collbran representative Laura Bradford. The bill extends a current law exempting all beetle-kill wood products from taxation for another eight years.
