The Montrose City Council met last night with recycling on the agenda. The council had three options to choose from, one would open up the recycling contract to new bids, one would renegotiate their current contract and a third would hire a recycling consultant. The council voted to renegotiate their contract with Cornerstone, the city’s current recycling contractor. Their contract with the city is up at the end of the month and City Manager Bill Bell explains what happens if they can’t reach terms with Cornerstone.
The city will be negotiating with cornerstone throughout the month. Also at last night’s meeting the council voted to support the efforts of the Montrose Emergency Telephone Authority. They are trying to get all residents with cell phones and internet phones to register their phones with the emergency alert system. Community Services Sergeant Paul Eller explains the system.
