60 Acre Fire North of Cedaredge Quickly Contained

Late Friday afternoon a fire broke out just north of Cedaredge.  Once the  60 acre fire was put out  a round of applause went out among the many who gathered at Cedaredge High School awaiting instructions on whether or not to evacuate.  The fire appeared to have been started near a barn which wound up being destroyed and from early accounts the only structure to have been lost in the fire.  One eye witness thinks that maybe three other homes were engulfed in the flames but no official word as yet.  There was a short evacuation between Tannin Road and just north of Ute Trail and between 2375 Road and Surface Creek Road.  Fire crews from around the area including Delta, Hotchkiss, and Olathe.  A helicopter and plane from Olathe Spray Service helped in putting out the fire.
