Thanks to a heads up from 15 yr old J.D. TenNapel from Montrose many were able to quickly escape the Surface Creek Fire near Cedaredge.    He jumped on his ATV and warned neighbors Friday afternoon soon after the fire erupted .  The young man and his family were interviewed yesterday on Sunday’s Today Show.  The young man did receive 1^st and 2^nd degree burns on his body for his effort and is expected to go to Texas to receive further treatment.  He is currently being treated at Delta Memorial Hospital.
