Frank Birgfeld, Paige’s father, wants his daughter’s remains so he can bury her and but an end to this tragic story.  However, he’s met with some resistance from the Mesa County District Attorney’s office.  As far as they’re concerned although it’s a cold case it’s still ongoing and every piece of evidence is crucial.  D.A. Hautziner explained in an email to Newschannel 5 that her remains are evidence and if an individual is charge with criminal offense then he or she has the right to review, inspect and confront the evidence against him or her.  Authorities say this is a unique case and according to the Coroner’s office they were told to keep Paige’s remains until the case is officially closed.
