Over the weekend the Montrose Sheriff’s office had a stand off on their hands and called out the swat team to help out.  At about 3pm yesterday afternoon police were called out to the 1400 block of Marine Road on a domestic disturbance.  Earlier a woman had called 911 explaining that her husband was upset and had a weapon.  He apparently fired a shot at the ceiling.  Eventually all the children came out of the home unharmed.  After everyone was cleared out it took several hours before authorities cleared the scene.  The man, Steven Carter, was eventually arrested and now faces charges of domestic violence, menacing, child abuse, illegal discharge of a firearm and wreckless endangerment.
