Added to BLM’s list of open fire bans include much of northwest Colorado and the White River Nat’l Forest.  Stage two restrictions have been implemented in Grand Junction, Colorado River Valley and White River.  This elevated stage  prohibits fires even in fire pits or grates in developed campgrounds.  The only exceptions are the use of petroleum-fueled stoves. All these areas are very popular among visitors to the state.  These tightened rules come amid increasingly extreme drought conditions and fire danger.
