Tomorrow the town of Naturita will host a special event at Noon. Many dignitaries from local, county, and state levels will join together to proclaim “Affirmation Day” a time to celebrate and respect the U.S. Constitution. An earlier proclamation was recognized and approved during the Montrose Board of County Commissioners meeting on Monday. Several other towns in Southwestern Colorado also joined Montrose County and issued similar proclamations. The affirmation goes back to the country’s roots when in 1788 New Hampshire became the 9th colony giving our gov’t the authority to make the constitution the law of the land. Two brothers from Nucla, Darryl and Bob Roberts, spearheaded the effort to make this a national holiday and let people be aware of the importance of this document.
