Blue Mesa Level Lowest Since 2002

The heat and fire are not the only problems plaguing the Western Slope. Drought is very much on the minds of farmers and ranchers alike. You can see clear evidence of that by looking at the water level at Blue Mesa Reservoir. Officials say that the amount of water contained in Blue Mesa is very close to that of 2002, our last big drought. Just like in 2002 storage levels in the reservoir began dropping since the beginning of this year. If this continues to carry on then a dramatic water drop will exist for the July to October period.
