Unincorporated Mon County Now Under Stage Two Fire Restriction
Jun 27th @ 5:19 pm in News by Scott Staley
At Noon today Montrose County Commissioners approved a resolution to put unincorporated Montrose County under a Stage two fire restriction. By making this decision Sheriff Dunlap will able to upgrade restriction levels as he feels necessary. Also, under a temporary emergency order the sale of fireworks in unincorporated areas has also been banned. However, this ban does not include the sale of fireworks from booths within the city or town limits. These sudden moves were made as a result of last night’s lightning strike which did spark a fire on the west end. No damage was caused as crews quickly brought it under control. As far as the 4th of July Fireworks show that’s planned by the Montrose Rotary, it’s still on but that is subject to change.
