Fire crews are gaining headway on all the major fires in the state. This weekend firefighters fully contained the High Park fire at 87,284 acres. Crews are still patrolling the perimeter of the fire watching for any hotspots that may pop up. Firefighters have contained 55% of the Waldo Canyon fire, but evacuation orders are still in place for tens of thousands of residents. On Friday President Barack Obama toured the burn area, visited a Red Cross shelter and thanked firefighters for their efforts. The cause is still under investigation. Fire Crews also gained on the Weber and Pine Ridge fires here on the Western Slope. The Pine Ridge fire near DeBeque is more than 13,000 acres and 35% contained. There was an evacuation order over the weekend, but it was lifted in the afternoon on Sunday. The Weber Fire near Mancos is now 75% percent contained at 10,000 acres. With Independence Day coming up on Wednesday, remember there are numerous fire bans throughout the state, some more strict than others.
