Although the federal court ruled last month to hold up on oil and gas drilling leases while a review is being conducted Garfield County Commissioners are asking federal officials to reconsider and let companies proceed with their drilling plan for the Roan Plateau. The plan calls for companies to drill on much of the undeveloped portion of the plateau which is rich in biological eco sytems. According to Glenwood Springs Post Independent, the judge ruled that the Bureau of Land Management failed to sufficiently address an alternative that would leave much of the surface of the Roan Plateau undisturbed.
