With all the wildfires and insect infestations that has plagued not just Colorado but much of the west a subcommittee is expected to convene in Washington on July 20th and possibly present a number of bills addressing these issues. This subcommittee hearing is based on prior committee actions that have addressed the threat of wildfires in the past and will help to pass legislation through the House to boost firefighting abilities and holding field hearings in several states to listen to impacted communities. One of those steps has already been taken when Reps. Scott Tipton and Mike Coffman and their fellow house member introduced the Healthy Forest Management Act of 2012 which in essence would increase local control over forest management and wildfire prevention.
