A lawsuit against the state of Colorado by a Canadian Mining company was dismissed recently. The lawsuit claimed that two regulatory laws regarding protection of ground water and the inclusion of local governments in the permitting process are arbitrary and exceeded the authority of the state. A Colorado Court upheld both laws, rejecting the lawsuit. The Company, Powertech Uranium Corporation, has a project on the Front Range near Fort Collins that has been protested since its inception.
