Parachute Man Facing Death Penalty in Montana.

The trial of a Western Slope man accused of killing a Montana teacher at the beginning of this year starts today. Michael Spell from Parachute is facing the death penalty for the death of 47 year old Sherry Arnold. Spell had told prosecutors that he and another Parachute man were looking for work on an oil field in the eastern part of Montana. Spell also alleged that he and Lester Waters, the other man accused in this case, were high on cocaine when the crimes happened. Sherry Arnold’s Body was found on a farm in Williston North Dakota in March. Both men were initially charged with aggravated kidnapping, but after Arnold’s body was found, they were charged with deliberate homicide and attempted kidnapping. Prosecutors will be pursuing the death penalty in the trials, Spell’s starts today and Waters’ will start in two weeks.
