The Grand Junction Police Department and the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a reported armed robbery. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the assault happened when an employee of Barnes Electric was returning from her lunch break. The man assaulted her in her vehicle in front of the company and she received non-life threatening injuries but was transported to the hospital. The police were initially called for possible shots fired, but the victim said there were none. However, her injuries are believed to have come from being hit by a handgun. The suspect fled the scene after the victim sounded her vehicle’s horn and employees came outside. The suspect got into a grey Pontiac Grand Prix or Grand Am driven by another man. The suspects have not been located or identified at this time. The man who committed the alleged assault is described as an adult black male in his twenties wearing baggy jeans and a black shirt wearing a backpack with short black hair and a thin build. The driver was not identified other than he was an adult white male. If you have any information about these men, or the incident call the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department. The suspects are considered armed and dangerous and should not be contacted if they are seen.
